Silk painting is a method where the paint is affixed directly on to the silk. Dyes are applied to soft fabrics using an array of watercolour techniques. The translucent colours merge to become a part of the fabric, which always remains soft to the touch.
Movement and fluidity are the hallmark of this art form.
The images shown were created during an 'In and Out of Hours' school project by Y4 and Y5 (8 - 10 yrs) and depict churches in the town of Stamford.
School projects can be created for all age groups using this method and the results displayed creating a splash of vibrant colour in any area.
